About Anxiety (Generalized Anxiety Disorder)

Anxiety is a feeling of extreme nervousness, worry, or apprehension. Generalized anxiety disorder is one type of anxiety disorder that is characterized by persistent anxiety and excessive nervousness and worry about everyday concerns. About 6.8 million adults have generalized anxiety disorder. People with generalized anxiety disorder tend to worry about things that are not generally a cause for concern. Generalized anxiety disorder, or GAD, can cause physical symptoms, including fatigue and weakness, trembling, heavy breathing, rapid heart rate, and sweating. Generalized anxiety disorder symptoms can range from mild to severe, with severe GAD impacting the ability to function in daily life.
