Amitriptyline (Elavil)

Amitriptyline (Elavil) is an antidepressant used to treat several mood disorders. Amitriptyline may also sometimes be used to help manage pain. Amitriptyline is the generic name, also known by the brand name Elavil. Amitriptyline is a tricyclic antidepressant medication that boosts the levels of chemicals in the brain to promote a more balanced mental state. Amitriptyline may sometimes be prescribed to manage the pain associated with shingles infection, eating disorders, and in the prevention of migraine headaches. Amitriptyline may take several weeks to work, and may cause side effects like nausea, headache, and low energy levels if you stop taking it abruptly.

I gained 90 lbs in less than a month after taking elavil. My pharmacist recommended tramadol. Not only did it work, but it took off all that weight, after it was used on hospitalized patients. I already have a tendancy to become highly obese due to my family histroy, so if you do, this may be a great help with that, too.4/24/2013 at 11:20 AM
