Loratadine (Claritin)

Loratadine (Claritin) is an antihistamine medication that stops the effects of histamines, which are chemicals that are naturally found in the body. Loratadine, also known by the brand name Claritin, is available both over-the-counter and as a prescription. Loratadine is typically used to manage hay fever and seasonal allergy symptoms, including itchy and watery eyes, runny nose, sneezing, and itching in the throat. Loratadine may also be used to ease hives (an allergic skin reaction) and ease itching. Loratadine comes in various formulations, including a liquid syrup, and a fast-acting , extended release, and dissolving tablets. Loratadine may also be available as a combination drug along with pseudoephedrine and other medications.
