Condition: Paranoid Schizophrenia

Home > Publications > Condition: Paranoid Schizophrenia

Paranoid schizophrenia is a mental illness that is characterized by an impaired sense of reality and delusions. Paranoid schizophrenia can cause an individual to hear voices, which typically say negative things about the person, that aren’t real. People with paranoid schizophrenia may also suffer from anxiety, anger, and fear because they have delusions that someone wants to harm them. People with paranoid schizophrenia may argue frequently, have difficulty connecting emotionally with others, and behave violently. Paranoid schizophrenia can also cause suicidal behaviors or thoughts of suicide. People with paranoid schizophrenia are more likely to be able to concentrate and think more clearly than people with other types of schizophrenia.
