Gin-soaked raisins are dried golden grapes that have been placed in a container of gin (the alcoholic beverage) to absorb the alcohol. Gin-soaked raisins are a home remedy thought to be effective in managing pain, particularly arthritis. Raisins and grapes can help to control inflammation in the body as they are rich in the compounds known as flavonoids, but the effectiveness of gin-soaked raisins for RA and osteoarthritis isn’t clear. In order to manage pain, the remedy requires eating nine gin-soaked raisins per day. Gin-soaked raisins may manage pain as a result of the alcohol, but consuming large amounts of alcohol can cause other health problems.
