Nabumetone, also known as the brand-name drug Relafen, is a medication used to treat pain, swelling, and stiffness associated with arthritis. Nabumetone 750 mg dosage may be prescribed to treat both rheumatoid arthritis (the autoimmune disease) and osteoarthritis. Nabumetone 750 mg is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug, or NSAID, which prevents the body from producing chemicals (called prostaglandins) that trigger inflammation and pain. Though not approved for the treatment of these conditions, nabumetone is sometimes also prescribed to manage pain and symptoms associated with fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue syndrome, and systemic lupus erythematosus. Possible side effects of nabumetone 750 mg include itchy skin and rash, stomachache and headache, and nausea.
